The Children's Film School Awarded with "Gullspiran"

Linda Sternö and her colleagues at Valand Academy have been awarded with "Gullspiran" for outstanding contributions within Swedish children’s film, through the pedagogical work of the Children’s Film School at Valand Academy. The award was presented at the Guldbagge Awards Ceremony in Stockholm, 18 January 2016.

The Children’s Film School encourage children to capture their own unique moments. Through the camera lens, they young film makers are able to increase their understanding of the world, to discover and take an interest in the world around them.

Linda Sternö is the project leader;
- The field of moving pictures grows rapidly. It is already a democratic question whether you can manage the digital tools or not. If you don’t understand it, you will get left behind.She describes film making as a democratic question about who gets to interpret our world.

- It is important that children get the opportunity to conquer these tools so that they themselves can show their images of the world, but also to introduce them to film as something more than mere entertainment, Linda Sternö says.
