New book about literature and artistic research

News: Apr 10, 2019

What is practice-based literary research? Fredrik Nyberg, senior lecturer in literary composition at Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg, is one of 16 writers who are looking closer the subject in a new book.

While literature as a discipline is currently not represented in the artistic research discourse, individual writers and scholars have ties to a variety of institutional constellations in which overlaps between literature, art, and research become manifested. In a new edited volume on “artistic research and literature” 16 of them expand on their methodological approaches and practice.

The book brings together 16 writers and scholars from eight European countries, representing a variety of institutional constellations in which new overlaps between literature, art and research are emerging. The contributions expand on methodological reflexions as well as on historical and contemporary practices.

Contributions by Jan Baetens, Vincent Broqua, Kathrin Busch, Daniela Cascella, Alexander Damianisch, Maria Fusco, Christa-Maria Lerm-Hayes, Anneleen Masschelein, Tine Melzer, Fredrik Nyberg, Maya Rasker, Ferdinand Schmatz, Thomas Strässle, Redell Olsen, Salomé Voegelin.

Fredrik Nybergs’s text has been translated from Swedish to English by Jennifer Hayashida, doctoral student in literary composition at Valand Academy.
