The Faculty’s role is to secure the quality of research and doctoral education, to strengthen resources for research and doctoral education, and, by engaging in dialogue with the departments at the Faculty, allocate these resources in a strategic, transparent and fair way. The work involved here also includes national and international cooperation with research institutes and other actors from society in order to emphasise the necessity of a shared perspective with regard to Faculty activities.
Research and artistic development work is carried out both by teachers with doctorates and by teachers without doctorates. In order to support and further develop the work being carried out here, as well as helping teaching staff to establish external contacts, a Faculty Seminar Series is organised by the Faculty, where different research themes are discussed, research development work carried out, applications for research funding evaluated, and cross-disciplinary collaborations enabled. The Seminar Programme, which is produced in dialogue with researchers at the Faculty and the Faculty’s Research School, and led by the Dean of the Faculty, can be found here.
All publicly-funded research is required to be made accessible in open access systems via the University of Gothenburg’s databases: GUP (Gothenburg University Publications) and GUPEA (Gothenburg University Publications Electronic Archive). Work to register publications from the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Peforming Arts is supported and furthered developed at Faculty level. The Faculty Research Secretary coordinates the work being carried out here together with Faculty departments, the University Library, and the librarians at the Faculty.
