  • HDK alumnus Daniel Rybakken receives the The Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize 2017

    [18 May 2017] The prize winner was presented at HDK on Thursday May 18. On Friday May 19 Daniel Rybakken will give an open lecture at HDK at 1 pm (in English).

    [15 May 2017] The theme of the fifth issue of the PARSE journal is Management. We explore the understanding of management, the history of workers´ resistance to being managed and our expectation of managerial provision.

  • Faculty of fine, applied and performing arts at the Venice Art Biennale

    [9 May 2017] The faculty of fine, applied and performing arts will be found at the Research Pavilion, which we arrange in collaboration with other art universities in Sweden, Finland and Norway. The pavilion is open from May 11 to October 15.

    [14 Sep 2016] Annika von Hausswolff is professor in photography at Valand Academy since September 2016. Von Hausswolff is an active artist and photographer, and she was most recently guest professor at the Helsinki University of Arts.

  • New dissertation in artistic practice

    [11 Aug 2016] Visual artist Annica Karlsson Rixon presents her doctoral thesis in photography. Queer Community through Photographic Acts, a new dissertation in artistic research, studies how photography may be used to create, but also challenge, notions of community. Annica Karlsson Rixon has in two comprehensive artworks approached queer women communities in Russia during times when the political climate has become increasingly tougher. How may this be done, what is the artist's responsibility and how does the artworks interact with the various viewers?
